General FAQ

Membership in the Credit Union requires a minimum balance of $5 in the Prime Savings account. This $5 represents your share, or equity, in the Credit Union and as such, cannot be withdrawn as long as you are a member. In addition, it cannot be transferred to clear checks.
The ABA or Routing and Transit number for Educational Federal Credit Union is 267077821. It can be located at the bottom left hand corner of your CU checks. You must provide this number in addition to your account number for electronic debit or credit to your account.
- For Prime Savings Accounts, you will need the ABA number plus your regular 7 digit account number.
- For Checking Accounts, you will need to provide the ABA number plus your account number the way that it appears at the bottom of your CU checks.
If you need written confirmation of your account number or any additional information, contact the Credit Union. For security reasons, this information can only be given to you in person or by mail.
Yes, an address change can be requested by phone. You may also log in to EdFed 24/SEVEN to change your address, or simply stop by any one of the Credit Union branches.
The Credit Union branches may be closed when it is not necessarily a legal holiday, but keep in mind that the check clearing process still continues. Any day that the Federal Reserve is open, the Credit Union and other financial institutions must process checks as usual. Please be sure to have the right amount of money available in your account to cover any checks you have written.
The daily cash withdrawal limits are:
- ATM Withdrawals: $800 daily limit per card
- Lobby Transactions: $5,000 daily total
- Drive Thru Transactions: $3,000 daily total
If you need a cash withdrawal of more than $5,000, please call one of the Credit Union's branches in advance. Depending on the amount you need, the branch supervisor will advise you when your requested amount will be available for withdrawal.
It is a special savings account that earns dividends and is disbursed to you in June – just in time for summer vacation. You may open up to 10 additional special savings accounts with whatever names you choose. With direct deposit, you can save for a car, an insurance payment, a wedding, etc., by depositing a little each payday into the account.
